Vietnam Security Summit 2022: “Cyber security for national digital platforms: Creating a sustainable digital future””

Vietnam Security Summit has reinforced its status as the most renowned forum in Vietnam in terms of cybersecurity for the fourth year in a row. Following the success or prior years, Vietnam Security Summit 2022 is held on June 23rd, 2022, under the endorsement of the Ministry of Information and Communications; Authority of Information Security – Ministry of Information and Communications, and IEC Group as co-organizers.

Featuring the theme “Cyber security for nation platforms: Creating a sustainable digital future”, Vietnam Security Summit 2022 brings together policymakers, well-known experts, and domestic and international solution providers to exchange ideas and best practices to strengthen the capacity to address non-traditional cybersecurity risks and safeguard crucial digital platforms during the digital transformation. 1000+ high-level delegates from the government and business sectors attended this event, representing key industries such as Banking and finance, Insurance, Telecommunications, Retail and E-commerce, Transportation and Logistics, Energy, Manufacturing, etc. 

This event includes The Keynote session hosted by Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Vice Minister, Ministry of Information and Communications, 3 Conference sessions around relevant topics such as Information security for digital government; Enterprise data security; and Technologies Against The Emerging Cyberthreats.

The Keynote session, “Cyber security for nation platforms: Creating a sustainable digital future”, acts as a prestigious forum for leaders of various agencies to exchange principles, policies, and visions for enhancing the security of national digital platforms. Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Vice Minister, Ministry of Information and Communications hosted this session and made the opening remarks. Following that, one of the highlights of the day, Mr. Phuong Nguyen, Co-founder and CSO, ECQ Global delivered the presentation titled “The cost of reverse penetration test” with a live demo “Trust nobody – big impacts from small mistakes”. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Director General, Authority of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications presented about Vietnam’s cybersecurity landscape in 2022. Colonel Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Deputy Director, Department of Cyber Security and High-tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security presented the anticipated growth in cybercrime in Vietnam between 2020 and 2023. Outstanding cybersecurity solution providers like Viettel Cyber Security and FPT IS sent representatives to talk on the topics of “Protecting data and digital assets in the age of digital transformation” and “Threat Intelligence: The key to protecting national digital platforms and digital privacy,” respectively. Additionally, the INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE NATIONAL INCIDENT RESPONSE PLATFORM also took place during this session.

The Executive talk in the Keynote session moderated by Mr. Le Cong Phu, Vice Director, Vietnam Cybersecurity Emergency Response Teams/Coordination Center (VNCERT/CC), covers a variety of topics, including the difficulties and challenges of implementing digital transformation in the local area, experience with public-private security cooperation, exchange and sharing of experiences in timely identification of the risk of attacks on information technology systems, the risk of information insecurity in the banking sector, top security threats, and steps to ensure the safety of user data.

Conference session 1, with the theme “Information Security for digital government: Goals and Challenges”, is moderated by Colonel Tran Duc Su, Director, Center for Information Technology and Cyber Security Monitoring, Vietnam Government Information Security Commission. The conference provides insights around objectives and challenges to improve cybersecurity capacity for critical areas in the digital government such as critical information technology infrastructure, online public services, security architecture, smart cities, and secure solutions for remote working. The Panel discussion is hosted by Dr. Nguyen Viet Phan, Deputy Director, Center for Information Technology and Cyber Security Monitoring, Vietnam Government Information Security Commission, discusses the plan for enhancing government agencies’ and organizations’ security, preventing cyberattacks, effectively implementing cyber security incident response exercises, and training and developing human resources to meet the demands of ensuring security for e-government.

Featuring the theme “Enterprise data security in a digital age”, The Conference session 2 was hosted by Colonel Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Deputy Director, Department of Cyber Security and High-tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security. The conference concentrated on analyzing security challenges as well as proposing ground-breaking solutions for enterprises in the digital transformation, given the context of businesses increasingly facing the risk of being attacked by hackers at any time if no precautions are taken to prevent and secure data. In the Panel discussion at this conference, moderated by Mr. Le Cong Phu, Vice Director, Viet Nam Cybersecurity Emergency Response Teams/Coordination Center (VNCERT/CC), cases of data breaches on digital platforms that businesses encounter were shared, as well as solutions to minimize the recurrence of these cases; identifying signs of online transaction fraud attacks and customer awareness programs to protect the information in financial transactions; solutions to help businesses proactively protect data as well as measures to prevent data breaches on digital platforms.

Conference session 3, “Harnessing the power of exponential technologies against the emerging cyber threats”, hosted by Major General Tong Viet Trung, Deputy Commander, Cyberspace Operations Command (Command 86), Ministry of National Defence. In the context of rising crime that uses high technology and a variety of new, more advanced, and dangerous ways and tactics, new security and technological trends are necessary. The conference focused on sharing the latest trends in detecting and promptly responding to cyber attack incidents. The Panel Discussion at this conference, moderated by Major General Tong Viet Trung, Deputy Commander, Cyberspace Operations Command (Command 86), Ministry of National Defence, provides advice about constructing service management systems and enterprise information security in the direction of risk management; the impact of new technologies and business guidance against growing cyber attacks; solutions to ensure network information safety for the power system; security control with DevSecOps processes; and experience dealing with escalating threats from attacks incorporated into the network and production infrastructure.
