Vietnam Security Summit 2021: “Cyber security in the digital age: Challenges and solutions”

Vietnam Security Summit is one of the largest annual events on cyber security in Vietnam. Following the success from the previous years, Vietnam Security Summit 2021 will be held on October 27 & 28, 2021 in virtual format under the endorsement of the Ministry of Information and Communications; Authority of Information Security – Ministry of Information and Communications, and IEC Group as co-organizers.

The event aims to become a prestigious forum to help policymakers, strategists, leading experts, and leading domestic and foreign solution providers to meet, discuss and share experiences to improve the capacity to respond to non-traditional cybersecurity threats and protect critical information systems in the digital transformation process. This event attracts over 800 senior delegates who are in charge of network safety and security, as well as information technology from the Government and business sectors in key industries such as Banking & Finance, Insurance, Telecommunications, Retail & Ecommerce, Transportation – Logistics, Energy, Manufacturing, etc. 

This event includes 1 Keynote session hosted by Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Information and Communications, 3 Conference sessions about relevant topics such as cloud security, critical infrastructure security, and enterprise security.

With the theme “Cyber security in the digital age: Challenges and Solutions”, the Keynote session plays a role as the premier forum for representatives of leaders of competent authorities to share the guidelines, policies, and vision to strengthen the capacity of safeguarding the national critical information infrastructure. Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Information and Communications moderated the keynote session and made the opening remarks. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Director General, Authority of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications presented his discourse about Enhancing Vietnam cybersecurity ranking index: Building digital trust. Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Deputy Director General, Department of Cyber Security and High-tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security presented his report of Trends of Cyber Crime Landscape in the period of 2021 – 2022. Following that, representatives of providing cyber security solutions businesses such as Viettel Cyber Security, Kaspersky, Cloudflare also respectively gave presentations on the topics: Overview of Information security in 2021: Perspective from the Enterprise; Tackling Cyber-Incidents Caused by Modern Sophisticated Threats; Implementing a Zero-Trust Strategy. Besides, inside the framework of the Keynote session, the Launching Ceremony of the Cybersecurity application on the mobile platform for citizens and Announcement of Cyber Security Index for Vietnam’s Provinces & Cities in 2020 also take place.

The Executive Talk at the Keynote session with the coordination of Mr. Tran Quang Hung, Director, National Cyber Security Center (NCSC Vietnam), Ministry of Information and Communications exchanges difficulties and challenges in ensuring cyber security, from there, making suggestions and recommendations to shift the cyber security mindset and strategy, and provide security solutions for organizations and businesses.

Featuring the theme “Critical infrastructure security in the digital world”, The Conference session 1 is hosted by Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, Deputy Director General, Department of Cyber Security and High-tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security; and Colonel Tran Duc Su, Director, Center for Information Technology and Cyber Security Monitoring, Vietnam Government Information Security Commission as the co-host. With a series of content-rich presentations, Conference Session 1 is revolved around protecting systems, networks, and assets that are essential to key industries ranging from transportation and logistics, energy, to manufacturing by leveraging preventative solutions as ICS, SCADA, XDR, Data Diode, and many more. The panel discussion moderated by Colonel Tran Duc Su, Director, Center for Information Technology and Cyber Security Monitoring, Vietnam Government Information Security Commission will discuss risk management, security in converged IT/OT environments, and criteria for selecting appropriate technology to ensure network information security for OT systems.

The Conference session 2 with the theme “Cloud security: Trends and Solutions” hosted by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Director General, Authority of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications. As the need for data storage grows, so does the prevalence of clouds, which makes them the perfect target for hackers. In Conference Session 2, CIOs and CISOs’ pain points are addressed and alleviated with the latest cloud security strategies, and practical and innovative solutions. Under the coordination of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Director General, Authority of Information Security, Ministry of Information and Communications, the Panel Discussion section proposes challenges in risk management on cloud platforms, thereby providing solutions to optimize investment costs and effective management.

The Conference session 3 features the theme “Enterprise security: Safeguarding the digital transformation” hosted by Major General Tong Viet Trung, Deputy Commander, Cyberspace Operations Command (Command 86), Ministry of National Defence. With the boom of IoT devices and remote working, ensuring network security is getting more complex as there are numerous vulnerabilities for hackers to exploit. The Conference Session 3 will convene leading experts in network security to share their exemplary insights on Fraud Prevention, Endpoint Security, Digital Identity, Multi-factor Authentication to help stakeholders (especially in the banking and financial services sector) protect their digital assets. The panel discussion shares security challenges in remote working contexts and new requirements for security systems to ensure operational efficiency, updating Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) trends in the customer-centric era, thereby proposing enterprises’ approaches on upgrading security systems in the Digital Age.
