Currently, the trend of digital transformation is being widely implemented by many state agencies, corporations, and private enterprises in Vietnam to improve and optimize operational efficiency. However, in the context of an increasing amount of important resources and data being stored in the digital environment along with the proliferation of personal connected devices, this inadvertently becomes a “weak point” that can be exploited. Attackers now have more “entry points” to penetrate the data repositories of organizations, making information security processes increasingly complex. According to statistics from the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information & Communications), as of September 2019, Vietnam ranked second globally in malware infections, second in email attacks in the Southeast Asia region, and third globally in botnet attacks. Especially, cyber attacks are not only increasing rapidly in terms of quantity, duration, and frequency but also enhanced by the power of new technologies, leading to large-scale data breaches, thefts, and destruction targeting critical national infrastructure and enterprises. Therefore, in recent years, the level of investment in security solutions by organizations and agencies in Vietnam has significantly improved.
Continuing the success of the 2019 event, with the desire to support Vietnamese organizations and enterprises in quickly updating and adapting to new-generation cybersecurity trends, the Vietnam Security Summit 2020 conference and exhibition continued to be held on November 10, 2020, at the InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 Hotel under the sponsorship and guidance of the Central Economic Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communications; IEC Group collaborated with the Economic Bureau (Central Economic Committee) and the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) to co-organize the event. With the theme “Information Security in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data,” the event aimed to provide a forum for leading experts and solution providers both domestically and internationally to exchange, discuss, and share experiences to enhance the capacity to cope with non-traditional cybersecurity risks and protect critical information systems.
The event included activities such as: 01 Main Report Session held in a combined format of both direct and online participation under the chairmanship of the leaders of the Central Economic Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communications; 02 Specialized Workshops with a scale of 200 delegates/workshop; 01 Technology Exhibition with the participation of over 30 leading domestic and international security solution providers. The event is expected to attract over 800 high-level delegates from Government, Finance – Banking, Insurance, Telecommunications, Retail & E-commerce, Transportation – Logistics, Energy, Manufacturing, etc.
The Main Report Session with the theme “Information Security in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data” provided an overview of the current cybersecurity situation and leading security trends along with deployment directions to ensure information security and data. In addition, in the context of data storage and security of the Government and state agencies posing many challenges, the high-level Panel Discussion provided international experience sharing and strategies for cybersecurity of countries, organizations, and enterprises in the fields of security, data storage, and risk management.
Specialized Workshop 1 with the theme “Monitoring and Preventing Cybersecurity Threats for Critical National Information Technology Infrastructure” addressed solutions and technologies to ensure cybersecurity in critical areas such as e-government, smart city construction and management, energy, payment infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, etc. As a result, the panel discussion enhanced information exchange and public-private cooperation to improve the national information security capacity, detect and handle information insecurity and cyber threats to protect critical data and assets.
Specialized Workshop 2 with the theme “Protecting New Generation Enterprise Information Systems” shared about emerging cybersecurity risks and enterprise solutions to cope with data breaches. Additionally, the panel discussion focused on sharing and proposing directions to optimize the development of cybersecurity investment strategies and effective information technology with available resources.
Parallel to the Main Report Session and Specialized Workshops, the International Exhibition on cybersecurity with the participation of over 30 leading security solution providers in the region and globally, prominent solutions will be introduced in the exhibition including: Cloud security, endpoint security, mobile device security, access management & identity, multi-factor authentication/non-password authentication, biometric security, CCTV & surveillance systems, GRC, Intrusion detection and prevention systems, DevSecOps, application security/penetration testing, data loss/phishing prevention, Zero Trust, internal DDoS risk prevention solutions, encryption, virtualization, etc.
